yahtzee game
yahtzee is a great game to play with your kids grandparents or at a shin dig. Its the fun game that makes thinking... fun!
it's for players ages 5 (or able to count) to 155
# of players 1-99
game includes:
5 dice
1 shaker
score cards
2 pencils
20 yahtzee bonus chips
(depending on version)
the following has been taken, according to the 1956 version.
original yahtzee:
the object of the game is to get the highest score. sounds easy enough, right? wrong. this is where the dice roll in? (get it)
to start:
nominate a player to start. the first player rolls the 5 dice. you recieve 3 different rolls. there are 13 choices to roll for
1. ace - six (try to get as many of the number that you can.
2.three or four of a kind (like #1, but you add total of all dice.
3. full house (score 25 2 of one number, 3 of another)
4. small and large straight (small- 30 pts, large- 40 pts. numberical order.)
5. yahtzee (50 pts. 5 of a kind) you also must scream yahtzee and shake your head like the maniac you are.
6. chance (when all else fails add the dice together)
when you cannot fill in a space you must mark a zero in the space of your choice.
everyone adds there score and the winner is determined.
consult the instruction manual for a more detailed instruction.
yahtzee bonus chips:
i have never used these chips before... i never really knew what they were. so i cannot commentate on this too much. but after reading the instructions:
a player recieves one yahtzee bonus chip only when s/he tosses a 2nd yahtzee.the chips are worth 100 points and is added to your total at the end of the game.
solitaire yahtzee:
the one player game where the player trys to roll the perfect score of 375.
intriguing!
house rules!:
this is the way i play, instead of using one column, why not use the whole sheet, it takes awhile but is well worth it!
2 Comments:
this is where i (among anyone else who would like to) will talk about how much i love/hate the game.
this is one of my favorite games, i almost always play the house rules! way. i play this game at least once a week. i also have more pictures but i couldn't figure out how to put them on the same post. its a good game to help kids count. i played it with a girl who was in fourth grade, and she couldn't get enough, not to mention she kicked my ass! there is some strategy, but a lot has to do with luck.
i have not tried the solitaire version, but it also doesn't interest me too much

True Yahtzee Story: One time, my friend John nearly missed his plane because we were playing Yahtzee. "Please, one more game!" he whined and then 50 minutes later he was sprinting for the gate as they called his name overhead as the last remaining passenger at large...
